Craig is the co-founder of Hansen’s design practice and a leading urban design and landscape architectural practitioner with over 35 years of experience. His diverse career spans design practice and research, with a distinguished portfolio of local and international projects.
Recognised as a key figure in urban design in Melbourne and internationally, Craig actively contributes to the urban design and landscape architecture discourse through regular project work, publications, and conference presentations. He is a Fellow of both the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) and the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA), and an Honorary Principal Fellow at the University of Melbourne’s Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning. Craig has received numerous awards from local, national, and international planning and design institutions.
Craig’s work addresses a broad range of critical urban design issues facing cities, spaces, and places today. He advocates for strategic design processes and is frequently involved in large-scale land management and city design initiatives. His expertise in analysis, conceptual development, and spatial design has been key in creating innovative urban and landscape spaces across Australia, South-East Asia, North America, and South America.
In addition to his project work, Craig contributes to research and academia. He has served as a sessional lecturer at the University of Melbourne and is a regular juror for local and international urban design and landscape architecture awards.
