Two Sisters
The Two Sisters project in North Melbourne is a small scale, values led development by sisters Jess and Sarah, who set out to create housing that prioritises sustainability, long term living and community.
Working with Breathe Architecture as project architects, the development brings a considered design approach to the site while responding to the area’s industrial character.
Our DA team was able to navigate an approvals strategy to required negotiation with key property title, city infrastructure and neighbour interface issues that landed at VCAT. Resolution was found through agreement, allowing the permit to move forward.
The development will deliver fourteen homes. Ten build to rent one bedroom townhouses sit alongside two bespoke homes for the sisters, a music studio and two additional apartments.
Environmental performance has been carefully considered throughout. The development is all electric, uses carbon neutral brickwork, reduces cement in the concrete by forty percent and achieves an average nine-star NatHERS energy rating.
The project will also be one of 240 homes open to the public on 17 May as part of Sustainable House Day.
