The Ranch Adventure Park

The Mornington Peninsula is defined by its landscapes – rugged coastlines, rolling rural hinterlands, and a culture that thrives outdoors. With more people living in and visiting the region, there’s a growing need for recreation-based offerings that do not compromise its character or environment.

The Ranch is transforming its adventure park into a diverse, year-round leisure-based destination. The proposal combines board and bike sports, ropes courses, wakeboarding, ski sports, accommodation, and event spaces. Together, these elements create a flexible precinct designed to support active lifestyles, encourage year-round participation, and boost the local economy.

Hansen Director Sandra Rigo gave expert evidence to the Priority Projects Standing Advisory Committee, which addressed multiple challenges, including:

  • Native vegetation and environmental overlays
  • Bushfire risk and ecological resilience
  • Visual, amenity, and traffic considerations
  • Amendments to a Section 173 Agreement

With planning approval secured, The Ranch will become Australia’s only world-class facility spanning mountainboarding, skateboarding, wakeboarding, snowboarding, BMX, mountain biking, scootering, skiing, and kneeboarding.

Beyond sport, the project delivers real community benefits. It provides safe, purpose-built activities for all ages and abilities, on-site accommodation to support longer visits and workers, and employment opportunities for young people in a growing industry. It does this whilst providing for ongoing sustainable land management practices cognisant of the environmental sensitivities and values of its location.
