The Thai Binh Economic Zone extends along the Vietnam coast for a distance of some 45 km. Part of the Red River Delta, it is a fertile agricultural area, rich with aquaculture. Extensive rehabilitation of mangrove forests is already underway.

Hansen Partnership worked with the VIUP team to develop the Thai Binh Economic Zone Masterplan, the newly designated Thai Binh Economic Zone. We jointly worked to develop concepts, survey the site area and consult local officials.

The plan requires a sensitive balance between economic development initiatives, port development, investment and job creation, with the protection and rehabilitation of mangrove forests, sensitive land reclamation and working with local communities. Key issues revolve around competitive economic advantage, lifestyle, ecologically sustainable development, climate change and sea level rise.
