Hansen Partnership have received a prestigious Good Design Award Winner Accolade in the Architectural Design category in recognition for outstanding design and…
Congratulations to Hansen Urban Design Director Craig Czarny, Urban Design Associate Gerhana Waty and Landscape Architecture Director Steve Schutt who received the Outstanding Award in the Analysis and Master Planning Category from the International Federation of Landscape Architecture (Africa, Asia Pacific and Middle East) at the IFLA World Congress 2018 in Singapore last week for their work on the Surabaya Urban Corridor Development Strategy.
This recognition follows the IFLA (Asia Pacific) – Design Excellence Award in 2017 and Australian Institute of Landscape Architecture Awards at both state and regional levels.
The Surabaya Urban Corridor Development Strategy was undertaken by Hansen in collaboration with City Form Lab for The World Bank and the City Government of Surabaya. This landmark urban design project demonstrates the power of global design collaboration and how Australian planning and design intelligence can contribute to capacity building across Asia.
The project applies best practice transit-oriented development (TOD) and pedestrian-oriented design (POD) to deliver a major mass rapid transport (MRT) initiative in Indonesia’s second largest city. The City Government of Surabaya sought a ‘green growth’ approach, through which public transport issues can be tackled in combination with Surabaya’s broader urban development priorities.
This project focuses on both design and implementation through a series of key development, public realm and environmental enhancement projects including affordable housing as well as detailed riverfront and kampong revitalisations.
Hansen is committed to making a positive contribution through our international work, with a focus on capacity building in emerging markets through the sharing of knowledge and skills to facilitate global design collaboration.
